1980 Jeep CJ-7 "Dixie" (Golden Eagle)

Dukes of Hazzards (TV Series)

If you think that the only hot babe and jeep combo is Lara Croft of Tombraider and her Jeeps, think again. Today's featured vehicle combo started way back in the 80's with the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. Ever wondered why sexy denim shorts were called "Daisy Dukes"? All I can say is watch the show or the film (see also a promo shot for the show below). The original Daisy Duke in the 80's TV show was played by Catherine Bach. This was later reprised by Jessica Simpson for the film version.

As much as I would like to elaborate on the cast, we are here mainly for the vehicles :). And the specific vehicle that is featured for this page is the one used in the original Dukes of Hazzard TV series - white 1980 Jeep CJ-7.

Known as Golden Eagle or The Dixie, this Jeep was introduced in the last episode of Season 1. The white jeep has a Golden Eagle emblem on the hood and the word "Dixie" on the sides of the front hood.

In some episodes, this jeep appeared differently such as - having automatic transmission, manual transmission, the doors are on, the words on the side doors, etc. But for the toy, its just the open top, w/o doors, eagle emblem on top, and the word dixie on both sides of the hood.

take note, though, of the initial batches of diecast models that came out, the toy manufacturers labeled the initial batches - daisy , instead of dixie.

Pictured here is my 1/64 scale model of the jeep. The CJ on Jeep CJ7 , by the way, stands for Civilian Jeep. This eventually evolved to the now well known Jeep Wrangler (used by Tombraider and the Dukes of Hazzard film version )
